Google announced that "starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile friendliness as a ranking signal”

What does this mean for your business website?

Google is going to start favouring sites that are mobile friendly - so mobile friendly sites are going to rank higher in mobile search results than those that aren’t.

If people are searching on mobile devices but your website is not mobile friendly, your site may no longer appear in search results, or at a minimum, you’ll see a big drop in where you appear in Google search results.

“Going mobile has become a business imperative" - Google

According to Google, over 50 percent of Australians use their phones to look for services.

David Ligtenberg, Digital Growth Strategist at Itag Media says “Mobile friendly is not an option anymore, it’s a critical must for every business website. Google has now confirmed it - businesses that don’t have mobile friendly sites are going to be severely disadvantaged.”
